Exfoliating the Right Way for your next Wax!

Exfoliating in pre and post waxing can enhance the benefits of your waxing treatments greatly! At Pink & Rose Pinner, Harrow, we give you are our top tips to ensure you can get excellent results!

Exfoliating regularly

Using a bodywash that includes tiny amounts of glycolic or salicylic acid regularly can really help exfoliate your skin gradually and gently over time. Acids such as these work well with the skin to lift away dead skin cells and keep skin smooth, supple and soft, preventing ingrown hairs over time and exposing any shorter hairs just under the skins surface.

Exfoliating before your appointment

24-48 hours prior to your waxing appointment, we recommend a granular scrub applied in firm circular motions over legs, bikini line arms and underarms (or any of the body areas being waxed really!) to prepare the skin for hair removal. This helps lift fine hairs lying flat on the skins surface to they can adhere to the wax better and help expose any tougher or stubbly hair under the thicker skin in areas such as the bikini line or underarms.

Exfoliating after your appointment

Whilst you should not rub, scrub or exfoliate skin within 48 hours after your wax appoint – as skin may be sensitive – we recommend using a dry body brush thereafter over the whole body to really enhance the soft smoothness of the skin. Dry body brushing helps gently and effectively remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin to leave it looking brighter, and also improves circulation of blood to the skin for an all-over glow.
