Understanding your Nails

Suffering from unsightly nails? Well take a look through some of the concerns that can affect nails to help decide what you want to focus on fixing in your next nail appointment!

Pale Nails

Pale nails can sometimes be a sign of several underlying conditions including malnutrition or a poor diet, or even anaemia. Diet is of utmost importance to your health and beauty and upping your greens – high in iron – can help combat pale nails for a healthier appearance!

Yellow Nails

Be aware of nails tinged with a deep yellow appearance – particularly on the feet – because this can be a sign of a fungal infection, particularly if the nails are getting much thicker or of there is build up under the nail above normal levels for you. Its always wise to care for feet with pedicures at clean, sanitary salon environments to prevent the risk of catching a fungal infection. sterilise all equipment before use and prior to every single client because providing first class, safe services is our top priority.

Ridged Nails

Ridging in nails can occur over time as you age and although harmless, it can be unsightly or cause the nails to split rather painfully. During regular manicures, buff the nails to smooth our and ridges for a more even look and feel to nails.

Split Nails

Dry, brittle nails can split very often resulting in weakened, unsightly nails. Keeping nails at a healthy length and moisturising very regularly will help prevent breakages and dryness.

Bitten Nails

Biting your nails can cause the length of your entire nailbed to shorten permanently over time and cause uneven edges to the nail. Manicures can certainly help the appearance of these but more importantly, for nail biting caused by stress or anxiety the manicure can also be a great way to feel pampered and less stressed!
